Due to the locally contracted cases of the Zika Virus reported in Florida, mosquitoes continue to make headlines. According to the CDC, “Anyone living in or traveling to an area where the Zika virus is found, who had not already been infected, is at risk for infection”.
The CDC includes supporting mosquito control programs in the United States as part of their health security plans. We are pleased to report that Mr. Bugg’s Pest Patrol has been successfully providing Mosquito Reduction Services to our customers for a number of years.
As part of our Mosquito Reduction Service we search out and treat various environments in our clients’ yards. Our first step is to locate any sources of standing water that are potential breeding sites for mosquitoes then eliminate or treat those sources. These water reservoirs can include bird baths, buckets, bowls, rain barrels, tires, wheelbarrows, flower pots, etc.
After eliminating or treating the potential breeding sites, we focus on the shady areas which adult mosquitoes use as resting sites. A contact pesticide with residual properties is applied to these areas killing present mosquitoes as well as those landing on the site in the future.
Although we can not promise to eliminate every mosquito in the yard, there is no doubt that our customers do experience a significant reduction of the mosquito population around their home. Through our Mosquito Reduction Services, our customers are able to reclaim their yard and enjoy spending time outdoors with family and friends.
If you should be experiencing a problem with mosquitoes, or any other pest, contact Mr. Bugg’s Pest Patrol today for an evaluation.
